Abbie Matthews

SPEECH & LANGUAGE THERAPY ASSISTANT / NEURO REHAB ASSISTANT

Abbie has been working as an SLTA for the past year in neurorehabilitation. She will soon be studying Speech and Language Therapy and is very excited to further develop her knowledge and clinical skills.

Working with a wide variety of clients, Abbie has valuable insight into the communication difficulties following a brain injury and the impact therapy can have. She has experience independently delivering goal-led therapy plans and this confirmed her desire to pursue a career in Speech and Language Therapy, seeing the profound difference it can make on a person's life. She enjoys collaborating with the wider MDT to ensure a holistic approach within rehab and supporting people to gain independence and confidence.

Her experiences have equipped her with invaluable skills in communication, empathy, and problem-solving. She prides herself on the ability to build strong therapeutic relationships with clients and empower them to achieve their communication goals.

Abbie is a big advocate for positive health and wellbeing. Alongside being a mental health first aider, she takes a proactive approach in improving her own wellbeing as well as those around her. In her free time you can find her out on a hike, playing with her cat or training for a half marathon.

Abbie is very excited to join the team at Linguistic Resolutions and continue working towards making a positive difference in the lives of those experiencing communication difficulties.
