Louise Taylor
SPECIALIST SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPIST (NEUROLOGY)
Louise graduated from City University London with a BSc (Hons) in Speech and Language Therapy and has since worked in acute hospital settings with patients experiencing acquired communication and/or swallowing difficulties resulting from a wide range of aetiologies.
She is currently a Team Lead SLT on the acute stroke and neurology ward at the Royal Free Hospital. Louise has extensive experience supporting patients with stroke, brain injury, and progressive neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, Motor Neurone Disease, and Multiple Sclerosis. Her clinical expertise includes the assessment and rehabilitation of aphasia, motor speech disorders, and cognitive-communication disorders, as well as the assessment and monitoring of patients with prolonged disorders of consciousness. She also has advanced dysphagia expertise, regularly leading VFSS clinics, conducting FEES assessments, and delivering tailored swallow rehabilitation programmes, including interventions such as EMST.
Louise has broad experience working collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams, contributing to joint therapy sessions, professionals’ meetings, best-interest discussions, goal setting, complex discharge planning, and patient advocacy.
