Annie Ramsay

SPECIALIST SPEECH & LANGUAGE THERAPIST (NEUROLOGY)

Annie Ramsay qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist from Newcastle University in 2005. She has 16 years of experience working with adults with acquired and degenerative neurological conditions. She has provided specialist swallowing and communication intervention in a range of settings including stroke, neurology and neurosurgical wards and has worked with people in community clinics and within their own homes and residential settings.

Annie has extensive experience providing assessment and therapy for clients with aphasia (language difficulties), dysarthria (motor speech difficulties), cognitive-communication difficulties and dysphagia (swallowing difficulties). She provides intervention on a 1:1 basis and also works collaboratively with families, friends and key others to ensure relevant and meaningful goals are identified and worked towards during treatment. She has experience of planning and leading group intervention where this is relevant for the client’s rehabilitation.  She also has experience of developing and implementing training packages for family members, carers and other professionals with the goal of maximising the skills and techniques of everyone involved in conversations and mealtime/swallowing support.
