Shazia Jaufarally

SPEECH & LANGUAGE THERAPY ASSISTANT / NEURO REHAB ASSISTANT

Shazia has over three years' experience working with individuals with Learning Disabilities, Autism, and complex needs in both educational and community-based settings. She began her journey at Phoenix SEN School, where she developed skills in creating inclusive environments tailored to each child’s unique strengths and challenges, supporting children with a range of needs including echolalia, sensory processing challenges, and behavioural needs. She then transitioned to working in the community with adults, supporting people with physical, neurological conditions such as Down’s Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, Dementia, brain-injury and complex mental health needs, including Anxiety and Depression. 

Throughout her roles, Shazia has collaborated closely with SLT, OT, and Physiotherapy teams, delivering person-centred interventions that promote communication, independence, and well-being. She is skilled at adapting activities and interventions to meet a variety of physical and cognitive needs, always maintaining a holistic and empowering approach.

Shazia graduated with First-Class Honours in BSc Psychology at Queen Mary University of London and will begin her MSc in Speech and Language Therapy at UCL this year. She is excited to build on her existing experience and learn new skills to support individuals with communication and swallowing difficulties. Her passion lies in working across the lifespan, helping people achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.

Shazia is known for her bubbly and warm personality, which helps her build trusting relationships with clients, families, and colleagues, creating a safe and supportive environment where individuals feel comfortable to express themselves. She values the importance of understanding each person’s communication style and works hard to ensure everyone’s voice is heard.
