Alex Findlay

SPECIALIST SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPIST (NEUROLOGY)

Alex is a Speech and Language Therapist who specialises in assessment and therapy for clients with progressive neurological conditions, acquired brain injury, Stroke and voice disorders. After graduating from the University of Reading in 2011 with a Masters in Speech and Language Therapy, Alex has worked in secure hospital settings, community outpatient, acute Stroke units and specialist Neurorehabilitation Units across both NHS and private sector settings. Within these settings she has supported clients with a range of conditions affecting both Swallowing and Communication.

Alex has provided second opinions and supported referrals for additional assessments to provide differential diagnosis, particularly in the area of Primary Progressive Aphasia and strives to continue to increase her knowledge of her areas of specialism, attending the latest conferences and training and own study.

With an emphasis on goal-focused, person-centred therapy, Alex ensures that all therapy is meaningful and functional and enables clients to reach their goals with both evidence-based and innovative therapy techniques. A focus on intensity is key and working outside of a clinic room where possible is integral to transferring skills to the real world.

Alex volunteers for Parkinson’s UK and Rare Dementia Support which is led by the UCL Dementia Research Centre. In this role she leads support groups for clients and carers in her local area.
