What is it like to be a Consultant for Linguistic Resolutions?

Jude berraondo (Consultant Specialist Speech & Language Therapist):

I have been working with Linguistic Resolutions for over 10 years.  I started seeing private clients for the company one afternoon a week as an adjunct to my NHS work.  An opportunity opened up to take on more clients for LR and I left my NHS job in 2012 and have never looked back.  Sally Ghibaldan has built up a really amazing company and I’m so proud to be a part of it.  The biggest draw is being able to provide quality and creative therapy, in a client's home environment, tailored to them and seeing the results that brings.  Through LR I also have access to Sally’s help and mentoring which has been incredible over the years, all the resources I might need, and like minded colleagues from which I obtain regular peer support. Working with LR is the ultimate in flexible working and I have shaped the work around my family and further study. The job requires hard work and dedication, but does not need to be a 9-5 type role and it is brilliant to be in control of my own diary and my time. LR is a very ethical company that puts client’s at the centre of everything it does and I highly recommend it to any SLT considering independent working.

Lucy Goodwin (Consultant Specialist Speech & Language Therapist):

I have worked for Sally and Linguistic Resolutions for the past 7 years. I continue to work full time within the NHS and complete my private work alongside this. For me it has been the perfect balance; I am able to manage my private caseload to fit in with my other life commitments and I have been able to continue my professional development working with a wide range of clients/MDTs. I love working in the NHS, but I am well aware of the constraints of long waiting lists, targets and reduced staffing; it is fantastic to be able to offer therapy to clients without these same obstacles and see the fantastic improvements that clients can make with the right input.

I am incredibly well supported by Sally and the other therapists working within the company with access to regular supervision from clinicians with a huge range of clinical expertise. I also have access to a wealth of assessments and resources. Sally really invests in the team and the development of the company, putting on regular training sessions so that the therapists are able to continue their personal and professional development.

ellie hatch (speech & language therapy assistant / rehabiliation assistant - neurology):

I began working as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant (SLTA) for Linguistic Resolutions whilst completing my Masters and it was the perfect adjunct to my learning to be able to work clinically with such a huge range of fantastic clients. It was incredibly beneficial to be in control of my own caseload to accommodate for my university timetable, which gave me an independence that other jobs couldn’t offer. As an SLTA, I had access to supervision and the opportunity to implement and contribute to therapy programmes for a broad range of clients. Being fully qualified, I was empowered by my supervising therapists to put forward ideas, share my university learning with others and attend company-wide training, whilst receiving valuable feedback on how to further develop my skill and knowledge that will be the foundation of my career today. I value my time at Linguistic Resolutions very highly and would recommend any aspiring or newly qualified SLTs to work with Sally and her wonderful team.

CHELSEA ROY (cONSULTANT PAEDIATRIC speech & language therapIST):

I have been working with Linguistic Resolutions for over a year. I took the leap from working full-time as a locum for the NHS to linking up with Sally to open up the paediatric side of the service. Having just moved abroad from South Africa, it was a risk and a pretty quick jump to working full-time in the independent world. Sally did a fabulous job of encouraging me to give it a try, and well, needless to say, I am still working with the company, and the paediatric team is growing from strength to strength.

The longer I stay, the more I learn and the more I come to appreciate the many opportunities that this way of working offers - for my clients and for myself as a professional.

Sally Ghibaldan is a lady to admire, she is incredibly hard working and will stop at nothing to find a solution to anything standing in the way for client progression. The well-being of her associates and her clients is a priority. The supervision and training opportunities are incredibly unique. Sally encourages us to feed back to her what we would like to learn more about, and she then pulls all strings necessary to make it happen - and fast too! Sally goes over and above to make sure that her associates and clients feel heard and supported.

I have found that the time, resources and flexibility allows me to provide high quality, individualised therapy for my clients. Work satisfaction on a scale of zero to ten - it would be well up the higher digits.

Working with LR allows for the sought after life-style of flexible working. It is nowhere near your typical 9-5 job, which takes some adjusting to at first, but once I realised the power of managing my own time - the possibilities were endless, for myself and for my clients.

Sharing clinical cases is also heavily encouraged in the company. I specialise in paediatrics, but this ‘label’ has not stopped me from getting involved with some adult cases too, or clinical areas that I haven’t much experience in, but I would love to learn more about. I am a big fan of exposing myself to as many different areas as possible; skills are so transferable, and finding the variability is possible. The support and guidance from other clinicians in the team is always high. There are huge benefits of having a co-worker on a case and two heads are better than one on complex neuro cases.

I can recommend working with LR to any therapist.
