Emma Derbyshire
SPECIALIST SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPIST (NEUROLOGY)
Emma is a neurological Speech and Language Therapist who qualified from Sheffield University in 2011. She has extensive experience working with acquired and progressive neurological conditions and complex mental health difficulties across inpatient and community settings, with particular expertise in cognitive communication disorders (CCD) following brain injury and stroke.
Emma specialises in assessing and treating speech, language, cognitive communication impairments and neurological swallowing difficulties. Her clinical interests focus on cognitive-communication disorders, aphasia and apraxia. She has completed specialised training in Facial Oral Tract Therapy, maintains a keen interest in melodic intonation therapy, and has experience in solution-focused therapy approaches.

She enjoys creating personalised therapy resources and communication aids that are both functional and engaging. Emma works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, families and carers, drawing from diverse therapeutic models and research to design interventions that genuinely work in people's everyday lives.
