Gayle Chandler

SPECIALIST SPEECH & LANGUAGE THERAPIST (NEUROLOGY)

Gayle Chandler qualified as a speech and language therapist in 2000, and has enjoyed more than 20 years of working predominately in the field of adult neurological impairment.  Her experience includes in-patient settings such as acute medical wards, rehabilitation settings, out-patient clinics and community settings.  Gayle spent a significant part of her career (12 years) working in the adult neuro rehabilitation setting for the Ministry of Defence, Headley Court.  The experience gained here working with young people with traumatic brain injury and stroke, and the team, was invaluable.  Gayle is strongly committed to team working, and working together with everyone involved with the person who has experienced the changes to their communication.  She is innovative and creative in her approach to therapy, and keen to continue to explore how technology these days can offer an adjunct to so much of how we communicate and interact, and to the therapy we deliver.  Gayle is a strong believer in the participative model and supports people to realise that despite their changes in their communication skills, disability doesn’t need to be the focus in their lives or the barrier.  Gayle also enjoys working with groups of people with aphasia and supporting conversation partners to develop and improve their own skills in order to better communicate with someone close to them with difficulties.

Additionally Gayle enjoys greatly working with people who stammer.
