Nicola Atkins

specialist Speech & Language Therapist (neurology)

Nicola graduated with a BSc in Psychology and Linguistics from Bristol UWE in 2002. She went on to work as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant in a large teaching hospital for two years before gaining a Postgraduate Diploma from City University in 2006. 

Nicola has worked across acute in-patient and outpatient rehabilitative settings and has extensive experience of working with a range of progressive and acquired neurological conditions. She is skilled in assessing and treating speech, language, cognitive communication impairments and neurological swallowing difficulties.

Nicola puts emphasis on ensuring that therapy is underpinned by current research evidence and focuses on treating her clients in a holistic manner. She has recently completed MSc level Speech, Language and Communication modules in Aphasia and Cognitive Communication Impairments at City University London and plans to further develop her expertise by continuing with this professional programme.
