Tiffany Birch

SPECIALIST PAEDIATRIC SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPIST (NEUROLOGY)

Tiffany qualified as a Speech & Language Therapist from City University in 1988. She has worked with children with a wide variety of communication difficulties, and has specialised in working with children and young people with complex communication difficulties since 1994, with a particular interest  in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Tiffany has worked in the NHS, in schools and also in a charity run residential setting. She has worked across different NHS trusts including Bromley, Croydon and for Great Ormond Street hospital’s Assistive Communication Service.   

Tiffany is passionate about working with children and their families to maximize their child’s potential to communicate. She is keen to listen to and learn from parents and to support parents, children and the wider team to problem solve and develop functional and meaningful communication.  Tiffany has extensive experience of setting up and working with a range of paper-based and electronic AAC systems, as well as assessing for AAC and providing training to embed AAC use in everyday life. 

Tiffany has always valued working collaboratively with the wider team and as part of her role, supervises and trains colleagues and other professionals. 

Tiffany is continuing in her specialist role within the NHS. She has presented at Communication Matters and attends AAC training and special interest groups to develop her skills.
